Sounds like you have enough animals already that are probably fighting for your attention.
You really don't need another. It's not fair to the rest. :(

The ferret and cats may end up playing with each other. I had 2 back 10 years ago and they loved playing with the cats. The gerbils and rats however, I'd be more leery of and keep them away from the ferret. Just do your homework on the litter, cages, foods (commercial and fresh), etc. Don't forget the air freshener, because they do really stink when they poop.
We have a vast variety of animals at our house. They include 14 cats, 1 wolf hybrid, 2 dogs, 2 cockatiels, 1 iguana, 1 lavender albino California king snake, 1 tarantula, 18 Syrian hamsters, 10 Russian dwarfs, 2 rabbits, 5 gerbils, 2 rats (babies due any day), 4 mice, 1 Pygmay goat, 1 red sheep, and 2 tanks of fish. Most of them do interact minus the tarantula - she is only handled by my daughter. We know our animals well enough to know which ones can be around which ones so no harm comes to any. We have a couple of cats that will wash the birds and any small animal you are holding. My worrier, Zapper, stayed by our one mouse the other night until he passed. If my daughter tried to put him down even for a minute, she got this real worried looked and gave a soft cry until she picked the mouse back up. Zapper even gave him a few gentle head rubs with her head and almost seemed to give him a kiss before sitting back down next to the box. After he passed, Zapper gave one last check and walked away. She stayed with my daughter, myself and the mouse for 12 hours.

Please do not let your animals hang out together. O.O; The rats can be friends, the gerbils can be friends, the cats can be friends but they can't mix species and be friends. Very rarely will a cat accept these guys as friends but should never be unsupervised! Never even turn your backs on them. Rats and gerbils don't mix and neither will rats and ferrets/gerbils and ferrets. The cat -might- get along with the ferret but again, they shouldn't ever be left alone unsupervised.

As for any pet, you need to do it a little bit at a time. When I had a cat, I had to introduce it to the other dogs. I let them get to know each other by sitting the cat down my the door, where the dog was lying every single day, after about a week or two they were playing together. I don't know if a ferret would get along very well with the cat though, but if you belive in yourself, and keep trying, but take away your ferret in any sign of danger, it can very possibly happen. My cat, and dogs like to chase birds, and unfortunatly by dog once killed one, so be careful.

The rats and gerbils are prey. The cats would learn very soon that a ferret can take care of itself.

It could go either way...
...Ferrets were bread for their talent of catching and killing small animals suck as rats...
..Cats are usually too big for a ferret to mess with, but they WILL go after your rats and gerbils.
If you keep them in a cage, only let one species out at a time, and keep a close eye on them while they're out then it wouldn't be a problem...
...but if you intend to let them all run around together...the rats and gerbils will disappear, the cats should be fine...hope this helps...good luck

well, it all depends on the temperment of the other animals as well as the ferret. if yall really want to get a ferret but are worried about fighting, just keep them seperated at all times. you could also test out the "relationship" with a very certain guarentee that you can imediately stop anything that should go wrong. good luck, i hope i helped.

well if you have 2 rats and 2 gerbils with 2 cats and they get along fine then I see know reason why a ferret would cause any problems.

pretty well as long as it has a good personality and shows no agression toward the others... check out local shelters... they have ferrets every so often and can tell you about its teperment
