What causes a man to be wife-beaters?

In my observation, most jobless husband do it, but I find it lame, illogical and crazy thing to do... One wife who is my officemate show to me her bruishes and it melts my heart.

Men who beat there wives are losers. They are men that are so aware of their shortcomings as a man that they try to dominate the only thing in their lives that they think they can control... the women in their lives. I can't stand men that abuse women... I like the "Burning Bed" approach... surviving, living to take care of your children, these are not crimes.

I think it has a lot to do with how men are raised and what is expected of them. Most of the time, it's not ok (i.e. socially acceptable) for men to show their feelings. And let's face it, a lot of people have a hard time with men that show their feelings (and especially men that cry). The one feeling that is socially acceptable for a man to express, because it's "macho," is anger. So we raise our sons unable to express anything without anger behind it.

The unemployed husband may be feeling worthless, no good, hopeless, or any number of things that would cause women to cry or discuss it with close friends, but men rarely have that option. And expressing anger at a spouse/gf is MUCH easier than looking inward, taking responsibility for your feelings, and doing something about it.

While I believe that we will never stop the epidemic of violence against women until we change some fundamental teachings of our society, I truly believe that changing the emotional education of our children would work wonders to cut down many of the conflicts in the world.

Some men need to compensate for their lack of "manhood" (and I don't mean penis size) or they are just plain thugs.

Where and how a man grows up, who he socialises with and what he aspires to achieve determine how he views "manhood".

In some religions and cultures manhood encompasses being the undisputed, all wise and feared head of the household. Wife and child beatings demonstrate no-tolerance for disrespecting his rule or for questioning his deciisons no matter how stupid.

In other settings unfullfilled ambitions and frustration lead to unrestrained expressions of anger against the only people they have some power over. "White-collar wife beaters" are an example of this, and when not venting their anger can appear to be quite nice people.

Thugs are just arseholes and either have no respect for anyone or simply don't care. Usually they are of low relatively intelligence and thuggish behaviour is compensation for feeling inferior to those who are smarter (such as their spouse). The term "don't get smart with me or I'll smash yer head in" can be used to easily identify thugs.

Because the men have insecurity problems--big time! Plus, usually they carry on the cycle they learned from their father and mother. It is a dispicable thing to do, and the men are feeling so low about themselves. They are insecure, and have not had the proper role model of how a man is to treat his wife, or women in general. Joblessness is only an excuse for guys to do this. It has a lot to do with their up bringing and their environment while growing up. There's also the control that they need over their wives, and the wives are weak enough to make excuses for them and deal with it, until they figure out that its not worth staying.

Well, from experience I can tell you that men who beat women are gutt less cowards that need to be casterated!!! They are men that are sick in the head ! most of these cowards have been abused as children or seen someone close to them abused and thats where and how the cycle normally starts....if thats hasn't happened...then they are just jack asses and aren't real men! real men do not beat on women... good luck

It was most likely caused by abuse in childhood whether it was them or their mother getting beat they grow up thinking it is normal. Guys that are controlling and like to hurt the person their with.

Many men have watched their fathers beat their mothers when they were growing up, and so they learn it is normal to treat their wife the same. We learn what we live. It teaches them to handle their anger with violence, instead of walking away.

you finally get a girl friend and she nags you daily but you are stuck with her throwing a pne at you for not calling and she is with child
you need money and a job
you dont get sex anymore and wander if your gay
kids almost grown and you find out its not yours
you beat your wife
you goto jail for 10 years for 1 punch now your step child gone forever
a$$ ****** in jail
