Sometimes I like asking questions that people never ask. This, of course, is a variation of the "best place/city to travel in Japan" questions that are so common.

So, which city/cities are the worst for you?

Kamagasaki AKA "Airin" in Osaka is a pretty sad place. There are parts of Tokyo that resemble the Airin district but not with the same massive scale of emptiness and homelessness. There are some worked-out mining towns in Japan that are not so pleasant-Takahagi, Ibaraki comes to mind. It's really a subjective thing-I wouldn't suggest Takahagi to a tourist but it has nice beaches and forests for those who live there.

on a light hearted note, there was a story about a Shogun from Sendai who battled and faought with the Feudal lord of the Mito area. After the battles the Shugun from Sendai took all of the pretty women away from Mito and back to Sendai. Thus people said the gene pool of the area was chnaged and there are less pretty women in Mito.

The truth is, Mito is a nice city with many nice people many of whom are my dear friends. The city is tiny when compared to Tokyo. Not many train lines in and around the city, so you have to take cars or bus everywhere. For most people, it is not easy to get around if you do not have a motorcycle or car.

Not quite a city, but I would definitely call this the worst of Japan's sights. It's a district of southern downtown Osaka called Kamagasaki. With tons of homeless people, it's literally a giant soup kitchen. I didn't believe it, until I went by there to see it with my own eyes ...and smell it with my own nose. I haven't been to the Kansai prefecture in almost 10 years, so I cannot tell you if things have gotten better or not.

Here is a photo gallery of Kamagasaki:

I wouldn't say it sucks or anything but probably the city that you're used to. Some example might be Tokyo. It's kind of similar to some of the cities in America.
Well that's just the view. The stuff they sell and etc. are great and I really like them.
In my opinion, there isn't really any cities that's "worst" for me in Japan.

I think this is a very subjective term. Worst in what sense? Is it the place with the most unattractive tourist spots, the most tourist-unfriendly place, the place where people has the worst attitude, etc.
I believe that such a place do not exist. It is only a personal perception to self-tagged such a place, if exist.

I used to live in Koriyama, Fukushima-ken. All my friends said that Fukushima city was the worst city in Japan. I checked it out cause it is close to where I lived and I agree with their analysis. It is boring, and the people aren't as friendly as they are in Koriyama.

There are a lot of crappy cities in Japan. I would say my least favorite is Amagasaki-shi in Hyogo.
If you go there or know there, you'll know what I am talking about.

It is not really a city, but I hate Amami Aoshima. It is a great place, but the spiders are huge as well as the other bug. And they are in abundance there. I don't know the scientific name, but I am majorly "bug-a-phobic".

I would love to be anywhere in Japan, rather than here in the US...
