Why do people say that rap videos make black women in America look bad? Most rap videos are made by men and obviously reflect their fantasies. Why would some video that a male rapper dreams up make black women look bad when it is obviously not some reality documentary? Yes, real women choose to participate in the videos, but there are women of ALL RACES who will do trashy things for money. That is plainly obvious. So, it is absurd to me, as a white woman, that there are people who say videos such as these hurt the general image of African American women.

Is the general population REALLY that idiotic?

I think that music videos can be exploitative of women of color yes. With that said, if you are not a well cultured person then I think that is when the videos have a negative impact. A person that is exposed to diversity and builds relationships with people from other races would not give in to the stereotype that black women are all promiscuous and good in bed.

A lot of people are idiotic enough to watch these videos and then draw the conclusion that black women are *** shaking hoochies. The stereotypes against blacks in general already contribute to the frailty of our reputation, therefore there is little room to exploit each other and then feel like people will understand it's a fantasy. If life were that easy stereotypes would not exist.

Yes, the general public is THAT idiotic. But maybe a better term would be racist. Those "Girls Gone Wild" commercials are showing 100% white women all the time looking like pure sluts, yet the masses don't base the image of Caucasian women on those videos.

The problem for us black folk is, white America doesn't know any of us on a personal level. So whatever they see in the media is how they brand us. Of course, they're the ones who control the media including Black Entertainment Television so what can we do about it! I guess that's just the way it is, at least in this lifetime...sigh.

Porn, rap videos, some rock videos, television in general, all make women of every race look bad. Women are viewed as sex objects...and we allow ourselves to be, we wear the short shorts, tank tops, make up... thinking it will get us a man because the media makes us believe that's what men want...

Those women don't represent all Black women. Do the women in the girls gone wild videos make White women look bad? They make themselves and their families look bad. It's a fantasy, but seems when Black people do it, it's then considered bad.

Yeah they are. When someone watches BET & MTV all day think from that all black women are hoes, its rediculous. The majority of porno flicks feature white women, are all white women looked at as hoes-noooo! And they shouldn't be. Hell not even all the video chicks are hoes. Melyssa Ford has been fighting this stereotype for a few years.

I must admit, rap music exploits black women as well as other races, but everyone wants and has to make a living, because of the possibilities that could come from being recognized could blow them up into millions.!

I think it may have to do with, people (Not all people, but some ) already having preconceived ideas about Blacks in general. I'm sure people are more likely to have more negative thoughts about porn stars, than say the librarian.
