No, not unless you embed the "lighter sound" in the app yourself

Dont think so, what vb.net vrs are you using? I know in 05' you have the My.Computer.Sound.Play(). In 03' (I also have) I dont think there is a way.

dont know. But if you are talking about C.
you can use sound function to create sound of desire frequency. It's duration can be controlled by using delay function of dos.h
