I'm not sure where to post this question...but anyways..

I had a baby 6 weeks ago and have not yet started my period. Should I have any concerns or is this normal? When will my period begin?

This is very normal, and to be expected. Your period may not return to normal for quite some time. This does not howvever mean that you can't get pregnant again during this time, so unless you are ready for another already, be careful.
Congratulations!

Normal they will tell you is 6-8 weeks, but it can be much longer depending on how you feed, and if you had a vaginal or cesarian birth.. I had a c-section with my son and breatfed him, and I got my period 14 weeks after birth... Everyone is different, and I can tell you there is no cause for concern... You might ask you doc though at your follow up... Or if you are really worried... But just relax.. it will be here eventually .. Enjoy this time while you still have it.. :)

Hmm.. I will assume that you had a c-section and didn't have the after-bleeding that comes after a vaginal delivery. After all, I bled for 6 weeks after giving birth just from the expelling of the "stuff" from carrying the baby I guess. I was told to expect this.

As for the period... are you breast feeding? I breast fed for a year and had no period until a couple of weeks after weaning my son. I believe this isn't neccesarily true for everyone but is common.

The hormones your body is producing from post-pregnancy are still in high-gear and you may not have a period for several months. Remember that you should still be using birth control even if you have not had a period yet if you plan to resume your sex life soon because you very well could be fertile again even though your periods have not come back.

Enjoy the break from your periods--its one of the few hormonal advantages of pregnancy! :)

my period didn't start until about 6 months after giving birth to my son. It depends a lot on whether you breastfeed or not. If you breastfeed it will take a little longer, but everyone is different. Not having your period doesn't mean you are not able to get pregnant again though, so if you don't want another one yet, use protection!! :)

It's normal I had my first period when my daughter turned about 3months. I was worried but as long as it doesnt have and extremely bad smell and theres no pain then dont worry. Mine is back and with a vengence I miss the good old months. But you're good sweety you'll have many more worries besides your period Trust me so dont worry.Good Luck! P.S. I didnt breastfeed.

If you breastfeed chances are you won't get a period until you wean your baby...I didn't get mine for 6 months. Remember you just had a baby so you had some bleeding for a little while afterwards. It may take some time to get your cycle back.

See your family doctor. If you are not careful or you just recently had unprotected sex, you could be pregnant again. Once again, if you had your baby 6 weeks ago then you are due for a medical checkup with your doctor so take the opportunity then to express your concerns to him. Good luck.

If you're breastfeeding, it is most likely that your period can be on a hold. That is completely normal. Hope this answer helps and good luck!

I got my period about 4-5 weeks after I stopped bleeding from child birth. Are you being over active maybe?
