i read in this book and it said that the first slaves came from senegambia, then alot were taken from benin and a small percentage was taken from the congo area or is it just benin africa

What I have read is that the first slaves in Haiti were slaves from Spain that had been obtained from the North African slave trade to Europe. Given the geographic location of Senegambia it seem reasonable that their original home was there. Also that the biggest influx of slaves were from the regions around the Niger River, that is Guinea, Mali, Niger and Benin. I do not know how much is actually known about the details of the slave trade. Even the total numbers arriving in the Americas seem to be in doubt. Good bookkeeping of shameful behavior seems to be a modern phenomena

Africans from countries spanning the entire West coast of Africa, including the countries you have named made up the population of enslaved in Haiti. The area of Senegambia was largely controlled by French and Spanish slave merchants, hence the native tongue of Haitians being a combination of Patois and French.
