Did she ask you to take him for overnight or for a long period of time?

To get temp custody you will need to have papers drawn up and both sign and such then it will go before a judge (in my state you do not have to be there unless the judge has some questions about why) once the judge approves this then it is good to go..

If she asked you to take him for a long period of time I do not think she would get upset if you asked her for temp custody..
Maybe you could say "you are worried that if he ever needs medical attention you are not a legal guardian and will not be able to sign pappers to get him any help" that is one way to bring it up..

Good luck

Ask here if she needs someone to help her by taking temporary custody, if so you will help her out, but you have to do it before the welfare gets involved, because if they take her kids, you will have a lot more trouble getting him. They have to prove she is unfit, call your local department of human resources, social services, without giving them any information ask them how you get temporary custody, or call your local court house. Tell them the mother has agreed to give you temporary custody & you want it to be legal. You do know however that temporary custody is just that , temporary.
