My Spitz and Spaniel would cuddle and listen intensely when I would need to vent. However, the small dog I have now just does not want to talk about my problems. He just jumps off from my lap and goes in another room. How rude. Just kidding. We talk about good stuff and he does listen when it is good. Does your pet understand you?

Heck granny, most of the time I don't believe my kids or my wife understands me I certainly don't expect my dog or cat to understand me. Oh wait a minute the dog just read what I wrote and informed me that it is not that my wife doesn't understand me she just ignores me. Oh well. I have got to go the cat is bored and wants to play with the mouse.

Yes she did. When there was a close death in my family she would sleep on the bed with me. That had never been done before. And she was a large Rottweiler. In the evenings she would push her nose under my knee and push my leg until I would stand up. Then she would run around behing the sofa. Then she would peek her eye around the corner. I got so I would actually play hide and seek in that way with her. Around and around that sofa we went, first one way then the other. When I was pooped she would let me sit down and she sprawled out on the sofa. She was so perfect, my heart finally unthawed and I could begin to heal. Pets are a great thing to have.

I think he understands my emotions or the mood I am in. My cat can tell by the tone in my voice. I'm not quite sure he understands anything I am saying, but by the tone in my voice he knows when to lay there and cuddle with me, and he knows when its ok to do whatever he wants.

Yes. I have five dogs so I always have someone to listen to me. They all understand English and we also have our own language too.

They don't understandy you, but they do go off the tone of your voice. Since your the only person in the room they think that you are 'talking' to them.
