People used to tell me that all the time. I wore black pants, black jeans, and usually black tops with pretty silver or red designs on them. I have natrually fair skin and dark hair - so everyone would tell me that i'm "Goth."
But, no. Those people who label themselves gothic don't label themselves because of the clothes they wear. It runs deeper then that - its more of a culture, from their beliefs and actions. Go do some google searching on gothic culture - if you feel that you identify with them, perhaps thats where people get it from?
Its a bit like - if i wore a tiara all day long, every day, people would probably kid and call me "princess" (that, or a friggen looney.) Doesn't mean I would be.
You've got two choices - either ignore them, or just try to intregrate color into your waredrobe. Its up to you, just be yourself.

No... I wear plack all the time too and people have asked if im "emo, punk, or gothic" and I say I'm just me. Everyday I wear black but that doesn't make me gothic. Ithink being a goth has to do with not believing in god.

I don't think so. I used to wear a lot of black, simply because it just suited me and matched a lot of stuff, and even dyed my hair black too, but I wasn't gothic. I think there is more to gothic then just wearing black sometimes. Just ingore them, it isn't right for people to try to label everything/ everyone.

Gothic is a life style, its not just about clothing. Wearing all black makes you as gothic as me wearing a space suit would make me an astronaut. Just because you like black clothes, doesn't make you gothic.

wearing black does not mean that you are gothic
there is many reason that you wear it
you could just like the color or there is something dark and distant in your life and that is your way to express your feelings black makes people look thinner

My one daughter used to wear only black stuff. She has finally gotten out of it some. She considered herself gothic. Black is her favorite color. She even wore black nail polish & lipstick. She is 19 now.

No, it does not. That is only a stereotype. You may be aiming for some kind of gothic fashion, but otherwise, you just like the color black.

I wear black all the time as well. I love black, it's my favorite color to wear. I don't think it makes you goth though, although I guess there are those that think so. But as long as we not all think that way then it's all good. But I totally agree with you - I don't think it makes you goth!!! :-)

no. gothic is more than just clothes, it's a lifestyle. i wear some black because it makes me look slimmer, but i am definitely not gothic. it doesn't matter what people think, it's better to "hold your head high" and be an individual than conform and be just another "look-alike."

gothic... or goth, as many of them prefer to be called, is not all about wearing black. just look at johnny cash and roy orbison. they both wore all black, and were about as goth as the teletubbies. it's not about the clothes you wear, but the attitude you present.
