ha! good answer. I actually like wolves very much, and all predators for that matter. But you can't really wage war between herbivores and carnivores, so i split 'em up to make it interesting.

I really really really hate hyenas and snakes however.

Although the big cats are pretty tough, I think they'll need some backup against all the bears and crocodiles, so maybe they could team up with some wolverines, and have some amphibious assault capabilities with a few of the giant otters (South American and African). A few divisions of komodo dragons might make things interesting too.

The good birdies could get some help from falcons and night assault owls.

The good marine team could be ably assisted by a few sperm whales. They'd be a good match for the evil squid squads. The evil side needs some sea turtles though. Sure, they're not really predators, but I just like the idea of an evil sea turtle.

I don't know about not including herbivores though. Some cape buffalo and rhinos would make a formidable adversary for any team. Not to mention elephants.

It'd be even cooler to include extinct critters. Even if you only include recent (i.e. Pleistocene) critters, you get giant condors and sabre-toothed kitties, 30-foot goannas and short-faced bears.

Go back farther and you get some Megalodon sharks, velociraptors, terror birds, Andrewsarchus and of course, giant carnosaurs.

Now that would be a cool battle.

What's so bad about wolves? Wolves have gotten a bad rap for no good reason. I mean I can see why hyenas are on there. They are kind of nasty looking and very often steal other animals' hard won food. Also wolves are the ancestors of dogs, so don't bash them.

Bears, evil? They don't usually bother anyone and their diet is of mostly berries and fish. And what precisely makes the big cats better than wolves and bears? It seems your criteria for good and evil is looks. Cats look dignified while wolves, bears, and crocodiles look mean.

Ravens and vultures have also unfairly gotten a bad rap. They are the cleaners. They clean the earth of what is considered gross. That's a good thing. Also ravens are a very respected bird in Alaska because they are among the few birds that stays here year-round. They're tough and they clean our streets of trash.

I'm surprised you chose sharks to be good and dolphins bad considering your criteria of nice looking and scary looking.

Squids, evil? I don't get it.

Why are wolves and bears bad? Why hyenas and crocodiles are bad? None of these animals kill more than hippos. Hyena (along with ravens and vultures) plays important parts in the ecosystem as scavengers; wolves control moose populations; snakes control rat populations.

By the way, they are not going to side with one another.

Also, if you consider toying with preys as evil, then you will include cats on land, and orcas in the ocean.

Finally...., what did squid do to make themselves evil. Most of them are considered as preys anyway. Are you talking about Giant Squid? Vampire Squid? Are they evil just because they look evil?

in Nature there is no good or evil
all preditors have their part to play
and they are nessecary as quality control and to curb the number

they weed out the sick and the stupid ,and if there is an excess of a specie more preditors are born
not one of them can be taken out of the eco systems .with out having negative effects on the whole
even sharks and hyenas
vultures are absolutely nessecary they clean the country side of rotting carcasses which otherwise would create diseases,so vultures are good ,ravens are good ,sharks are good .squid is one of the most inteligent creatures on the Ocean bottom.
crocodils maintain quality
the lion is probably the most evil
it eats its own young given half the change rapes his own daughter ,is lazy only the female hunts
snakes keep the rodent population down
in Africa the people killed snakes ,now it is forbidden everywhere ,because the result is plagues of rats
wolves is the most noble animal arround
if the father dies the brother becomes a step father
and they mate for life.
bears eat mostly berries ,bugs and nuts or fish ocasionally meat
i dont know where you get your standards from ,but i know it is not from an intimate knowledge of Nature.

Animals by their very nature are neither good nor bad. Is this a game of some kind?
