I think that Sanjaya is fully aware that he will not be the next "American Idol", but by having such different and interesting, not to mention, outlandish hairstyles each week, he keeps America talking about him. It's a great ploy, one which seems to be working out quite well. I also feel that Sanjaya has fun purposely poking fun at hiimself.

what is up with sanjaya period!!!?? I think he is one of the worst singers on there I dont watch it all the time and that is one of the reasons why it seems like every year it just gets worse and worse Just my opinion though

I think he is getting comfortable in his role. He cannot help but know all the negative press he is getting AND that he is still there, so, rather than trying, he is playing his situation to the hilt. As his comfort level grows, at least I don't have to feel mortified for him. (Almost choked when I saw that hair lol)

He's just showing the judges, his fellow contestants and anyone who really cares about the show that he can do whatever he wants and he won't be gone because of all the jerks voting for him. He is becoming arrogant and obnoxious as well as the fact that he can't sing. He needs to be gone.
