You should really wait until your baby is about 6 months (4 at the earliest) to introduce solids. Babies have a tongue thrust reflex that helps them nurse, so it will ultimately just push the food back out its mouth. It will help to reduce your babes risk of food allergies if you wait also. Babies also have a very fragile digestive system, and some babies don't tolerate solids early. When I started my daughter she was 6months old, and we just gave her a little bit at a time so she could get used to it. The ideal diet for babies is breast milk or formula for the first 6 months and they don't need anything more than that. Hope this helps and congratulations.

My doctor recommended not starting any kind of solid food (including rice cereal) until at least 4 months. At that point, my daughter was taking about 4 ounces of milk (or nursing for about 10 minutes each breast) and then eating cereal made to the consistency of runny applesauce using approx. 2 more ounces of breastmilk or formula.

As far as how many ounces of milk your baby is taking in at 2 months, it depends on how often you are feeding her. If she's eating every 2 hours, I would offer her 3-4 ounces per feeding, but don't force her to keep drinking if she seems uninterested or falls asleep.

Good luck!

When my baby was 2 months old she was eating about 3-4 ounces every 3-4 hours. She is now 4 months and eats 4-5 ounces at a time. The earliest she should eat cereal is 4 months, but doctors are trying to push it back to around 5-6 months. A few tips to look for in regards to her eating cereal is the ability to hold her head up, doubling her birth wieght, and taking notice of the food you eat. 2 months is to early for solids unless your doc recommends it.

I gather you're bottle feeding!? Don't worry too much about quantity as long as the baby has six wet diapers a day and is having a bowel movement at least one a day she should be drinking enough. Cereal is not usually recommended until 4-6 months. If the baby is happy with the bottle feedings don't rush into introducing cereal too early it may be difficult for a younger baby to digest.

at two months of age you baby should be drinking from 3 to 6 ounces of formula every 3 hrs. don't listen to other people that say that the baby will let you know when he or she is full. babies don't know anybetter so they will keep drinking. don't overfeed, a baby does not know how much he or she can eat. when it comes to cereal do not feed until 4 mths of age and of course you can put it in the bottle. when putting cereal in bottle, for every 4oz of formula put in 1 scoop of cereal (the scoop that comes with the formula) into the bottle and shake.

trust me i have loads of baby experience.
good luck

2 months anywhere form 4-6 ounces but every baby is different. I started my kids on cereal at 2 months but like i said every baby is different so if he eats his milk well and seems to be getting hungary more frequently, I would try a little cereal..NEVER PUT IT IN A BOTTLE!!! It clogs nipples and makes them have to suck twice as hard and they will fall asleep without eating much and that means they will be up again shortly after.

Doctors and most ppl will say wait until about 4 months before starting cereal. I started cereal at about 2 months, but just a little in their bedtime bottles. It won't clog the nipples unless you put too much. I did that with both my girls & they've done quite well...no allergies, no medical problems. =) As far as actually spoon feeding..yeah I would wait until about 4 months.

About 4 ounces of formula now. She can start cereal anywhere between six and nine months of age.

I never worried about measuring. Just feed the baby. She will let you know when she is full. I started mine on cereal at about 3 months.
