You know, as the mother you are in charge of this stuff. At 6 mos most babies are still getting most of their nourishment from the bottle - some babies haven't even had baby food at that age yet. So don't feel like you have to do something on someone else's schedule - each baby is different. Babies that are larger and grow more quickly tend to need baby food earlier, and more of it. You should let your baby's appetite be your guide. I think at that age most people would give the baby a little food at a meal, then a bottle. I don't think that babies that young should be drinking more than a few sips of water. Yes, solid food could be helping your baby sleep longer, and if he is content, then he is getting enough food.

At this age, most of a baby's nutrition comes from the formula/milk. The solids are basically supplements and mainly for practice purposes. There is no right and wrong way to create a baby's meal plan. Every child varies just as does every adult. What you are doing sounds fine and over time you'll naturally be able to tailor her meal plan to her preferences and needs. I know how you feel about people telling you about Breastfeeding. I too did not breastfeed, and it seems like people look down upon formula feeders, yet and still more and more people are opting to bottle feed instead of breastfeed. Congrats on your bundle of joy and make sure you video tape your baby's meals. Before you know it he'll be feeding himself :)

I have a six month old, and she eats Four 7-8 oz bottles per day, and about five tbsp. of cereal twice a day with vegetables mixed in. I haven't started her on vegetables quite yet, because I want her to get a taste for all the vegetables.

Your little one boy seems like a unusual child! Not ever consider silly about celebrating your youngster in anyway. You are going to miss all of these times a lot when they're older. I used to be simply looking at my boys photographs when they have been quite little and pondering - wow, that looks like this kind of very long time ago. I simply wished I might attain within the snapshot and hold them like that an additional time due to the fact now all they wish to do is play sports and never wish to cuddle with me! * sob * You do whatever you wish to have to rejoice and have fun together with your little man! Congratulations and pleased 6 months!

i let my daughter tell me when she is hungry if i want to change it up and give her less formula than solids i just wait til shes hungry then give her solids and then formula just like you. its ok. when babies eat solids they stay full longer so they dont have to wake up to eat as much at night. i get alot of comments on breastfeeding but im physically unable and it drives me nuts that some women judge without knowing what the situation is

i mix cereal with baby food for my 5 mo old bc she wont eat just the baby food i think just bc its still to strong of a taste for her but since ie started that shes slept alot more... its perfrctly normal. you just have to figure out what your baby likes and when they want it... when he seems unsatisfied try giving him som cereal mixed into his formula and if hes still unsatisfied try giving him baby food or more cereal... it just dpends bc every baby is different! you just haveto figure it out dont worry itll take some time to adjust but trust your insticts... you are his momma! :) and if you are worried ask his doctor

oh and ive had millions of ?'s... and i dont kno what id do without babycenter.com its a lifesaver!

Hey your following the rules more then I was...my kids were on table foods by that age. If I made myself a plate I made it for them. As for breast feeding...thats a personal choice, and no one should be telling you about it.

Its fine. He's sleeping a lot because he is comfortably full for longer perionds of time due to the solids.
