The biggest reason our teams look like a joke nowadays is because our teams aren't as good as they use to be. One they don't play team ball...international teams do. If you play team ball you will have a better chance of making your shots. International teams also play better defense. And, we all know that defense wins games not offense.
With all this being said, I do believe the first Dream Team could win against today's international teams. But, they wouldn't be blowing people out like they did. Teams are playing tons better and probably play just as good defense as the first Dream Team. But todays international teams aren't as athletic and their offensive skills aren't as good as the first Dream Team. But, if you was to put all of the international teams best players on one team and let them play against the first Dream Team, then that would be a game to watch, and the Dream Team just may...just may lose.

The would definitely dominate the competition but not the same as before(around 60 points lead every game). Where else can you see Magic Johnson, Larry Bird , Jordan etc. play in just one team?

Definitely they will win and still dominate because anytime you have the NBA's Holy Trinity (Bird-Magic-MJ) in the game, the opponents will have their hands full then add Barkley and Ewing to complete the starting five.
The second unit? Robinson, Karl Malone, Pippen, Drexler, Stockton, Mullin and Laettner. can't get any better than that.

Yes. Eventhough the foriegners have caught up. The second best team is spain and they still have miles to go when it comes to the Dream team. The problem with these teams is no one can knock down an open shot and the other guys can shoot almost lights out. This wasnt a problem with guys like jordan, mullen, stocken.

Absolutely. The Dream Team was never diluted with college players or other non-NBA stars. Nowadays, our U.S. team is filled with them.

Without a doubt.
Michael Jordan, enough said.
Today's USA Team have more young players than experienced players. They need more time to be close to being as dominant as the old Dream Team.

Back then North American basketball was still a team sport. If the US played like a team now, we would still be the best. Instead we are subjected to hoodlum ball. See better ball games on the block than in the pros. We don't deserve to win, so we don't.

Jordan, Barkley, Magic, Ewing, Bird, Pippen, Drexler, Malone, and Stockton are all current or future hall of famers. No country on the international level would be able to stop them.

i think they could, but it certainly would be a lot more difficult than the dream team had it when they actually played...part of the reason we are losing in international competition is that the competition is better, and the other part of it is that for whatever reason we are always looking for the next "dream team" of superstars, but they never play as a team and never play to their potential

Win and win convincingly!!!! Micheal at his best!!! Bird & Magic when decision making was actually a character trait in basketball. Solid big men, great shooters, but most of all they had what today's basketball players dont when playing internationally...the will to win and doing what it takes to win!!!
