I agree with the others, 2 atp net gain. However the guy who answered that the NADHs go on to form ATP is incorrect. You need oxygen to do that. Instead, fermentation recycles the NADH back to NAD.

2 ATPs and 2 NADH are produced. The NADHs go on to form 2 more ATPs. so total 4 ATPs. This is assuming that the Krebs cycle is not activated.
