Wow, buddy. S.H.I.E.L.D. is a covert group of elite military and enforcement officers in the Marvel Universe (home of Spider-Man,). In the real world, though, a shield is, of course, any device used to block blunt or projectile attacks, and can be used to describe virtually anything that prevents something else from performing its intended action.

Police officers have one that they would flash at you, to identify themselves to you.
A shield, was used as a part of armor. Generally, it was round and it protected knights from blows of the sword.
Dress shields protect your clothes from underarm odor and sweat.
