The number four, which sounds like the word for 'death', is an unlucky number. To leave your chopsticks sticking out of your rice bowl is unlucky, since it looks like the standing incense that are burned at a funeral or a shrine. Also, you are not supposed to look at the photograph of a person who has died and whose body and photograph are displayed at a funeral ceremony.

They do not wash thier hair on New Years Day.
The whole house should be spotless and clean by New Years Day.
Nothing would be lent out on New Years Day.

that all Chinese should stop the Japanese from killing whales by new years day.are bad luck Will surly follow them all year long
that eating whale meat will make them go to hell,and eating of the dolphins will make them also go to hell.

do not sweep the floor during chinese new year, because that means you're sweeping out the 'fortune'.
