I would start by looking in the phone book for a local sk8 shop. Visit them and talk with the staff there. They're usually very helpful in this kind of situation. If you don't see anything you like, check out ccs.com or activemailorder.com. That's where I do my sk8 shopping. They have the best boards in the market. I've sk8d many boards and so far I found that the most durable deck is my element fiberlight. As far as trucks, Grind Kings are good, they also have a lifetime warranty on them. If you're looking for lightweight trucks, I'd recommend Krux. Wheels are tricky, you kinda have to know what kind of sk8ing you're gonna do. Usually, the harder that the wheel is, the faster you'll go (only in a sk8park though). If you ride softer wheels, those are good for street sk8ing. Also, size matters. Smaller wheels are generally for those who want to do technical street oriented tricks such as flips and spins. Larger wheels are usually for those who sk8 ramps or pools. When you get bearings, if you want durability and quality, get a set of Bones Reds or Bones Swiss or Bones Swiss Labirynth or, (if you have enough money) Bones Ceramics. Ceramics I believe are the best, but they cost ALOT of money. And griptape does'nt really matter. It just comes down to what brand you're most loyal to. A complete custom made board usually runs about $130-$160. Depends on what you get. Well, I think that's it! Get a helmet and go tear it up! Aloha!!

you can get a good skateboard from a local skate store or a really good store is Active.

Id reccomend either a zero or toy machine because they last a long time, no matter what dont go for a baker deck they break quickly

for trucks go for Venture there light and good quality or Independent they will last the longest but are heavier.

For Wheels it doesnt really matter but i ride pig

For Bearings get Bones(any kind swiss or regular) or Black Panthers

dont pay attention to anybody telling you to purchase a great style named deck. in case you purchase a clean or clean type which includes minni style, goodwood, atm, or clean, its going to run you approximately $25 greater reasonably priced. its the fantastic comparable piece of timber, merely and not utilising a action picture star on it. so a ways as automobiles pass, skate royal lows. theyre relitivly easy and that they in no way dangle up on coping. ive in no way sk8ed yet another style of truck. wheels, i like dualite:featherlite version. theyre no longer a solid wheel like maximum. theyre hollow with a plasic skelleton interior. theyre INCREADIBLY easy and final for a protracted time. with berrings, ive continuously skated shorty's black panthers abec-7. they're very quickly, yet while ur merely commencing skating identity recomend a decrease abec. perhaps a three or a 5. jessup griptape each and each of ways. people say black magic is the suitable, ya for dominating your footwear. a sheet of black magic will take out a dozen laces and placed a hollow in ur shoe quicker than the different griptape. jussup is durable and has a superb medium grade grain to the paper. to no longer tough to no longer delicate.

I would ask for a gift certificate to Target for $150. Then buy a board from them for $40 and pocket the rest...It's not the board, it's the rider..you can do every awsome trick with a target board that you can do w/ a Bucky Lasek board...trust me.
