It would be worth a lot to me! But, I am single and have to do everything myself!

You could figure it this way-

Room- take your monthly rent or mortgage and divide by the number in the house. If you are one of three people . . pencil in 1/3

Use of vehicle- You could figure this in a couple ways . . . you could do however cents per mile.
OR
if they use the car a lot -- show them how much it cost you to have the car (car pmt, gas, insurance) if they use the car 50% of the time -- show the monetary value of that.

Internet /Phone/cable- i would take the total amount of those items and divide by the number of people in the house.

laundry done- i hate doing laundry! You need to calculate your time and cost of materials. Although, I think there are places that charge by the pound.

meals- not sure how to calculate that but, take the cost of groceries and your time into consideration.

I hope this helps. If you are providing all of this . . . I hope they are appreciating this. Also, if you do the math on all of these keep in mind -- you did not calculate electricity, water or insurance for the home.

It depends if you are trying to show this family member the MONETARY VALUE of what you are doing for them or just give them a helping hand to get on their feet.

I hope this helps!

Add it up...what would that stuff cost in your town on the "free market"? leasing a car...share of internet phone cable...meals someplace basic, like a diner...laundry by the pound...however many hours a week of housework like shopping and cleaning... you can find all this out in a few phone calls and then you have a very strong case for why you're charging whatever you charge.

I would count how many hours it takes weekly and charge it for prevailing wage which is probably 8-12 / hr depends where you live plus cost of bills ( according to percentage usage) plus prevailing rent which is dollar per square foot per month for space exclusively use and one third of dollar per sq foot for common use space. ( in bigger cities like san francisco rent could be twice).
