The people rose up against the ruling monarchy of King Louie in 1789 and stormed the Bastille in their efforts to bring equalizaton and honor to all peolpes, rich and poor.
They gave us the Statue of Liberty, which was to commemorate the Franco-American Union to celebrate the American and French Revolutions.

Sour dough bread.
Braille was invented by Louis Braille in 1829.
Mayonnaise by Duke de Richelieu in 1756.
Louis Pasteur, the french chemist.

Too bad all this is past tense. Now it is a socialist bend over and kiss the UN on it's rear and capitulation in all aspects of political and moral absolutes.

The Nouvelle Vague produced some interesting films and great directors.

It's the home of Maurice Ravel and Erik Satie, Brigitte Bardot and Catherine Deneuve, wine and cheese.

Oh, and they helped us with that Revolution business in the late 18th century....

France is a beautiful country full of great food wonderful art and fashion as a matter of fact the only thing bad about France is it is full of stinky rude cowardly French people, but all you have to do is speak with a German accent and they will run and hide or just surrender.

The French, just a bunch of surrender monkeys

They don't have customs when you enter by boat. I got off a ferry from Ireland and everyone was escorted to the customs building. But it was Sunday and they said that they don't work on Sundays so everyone just walked straight through the building to the bus station without ever being searched or even having our passports stamped.

France has stunning countryside, lovely people, beautiful music, glorious works of art, fabulous wine, cheese and sauces (food in general - do we not all love croissants and baguettes?), and the language is magnificent.

I really can't think of many negatives, actually. Vive le difference!
