Go to divorcereform.org. You'll get the stats there. Divorce rates are lower now than they were in the 80's when they peaked. The 50% divorce rate is false. Divorce is more prevalent now in the west because people no longer marry for economic reasons - they marry for love. Marriage rates have slowed down because people live longer and are waiting to marry until they are in their 30's. It's not the big deal that everyone thinks it is. People want to make it harder for people to divorce. The only thing that will result in is more people choosing to co-habitate. If you want to know the best way to ensure a long lasting marriage, do the following things:
1) Get an college education. Educated men & women have much lower divorce rates
2) Be financially stable - money is one of the top reasons for divorce
3) make sure you know where each of you stand as far as values, faiths, or whatever to ensure compatibility.
4) respect each others differences and do not try to change the other person.

You do those things, marriage will go well.

I heard on the news the other day that the divorce rate was currently down but so was marriage. Not many people marry anymore, thus, lower divorce rate. Who knows...just type in keyword, current divorce rates.
