Okay just so you know, I go to a school with uniforms.
I recently started a private school right in the middle of the year. The first thing I said was "Ewwww uniforms?". Now, 4 weeks later, I love them! Many people will say they can't show creativity. Reminder.... school isn't all day long! Most people will go and change as soon as they get home. Also, most schools with uniforms have dress-down days, where you can wear regular clothes.
Some people will also say they can't afford the uniforms. The truth is, uniforms are often more expensive then regular clothes. Most girls need 3 skirts, one skirt is usually about $30-$40. You also will need dress shirts, a sweater, and a polo shirt. Some also get slacks. You also need dress shoes. All this can really total up!
Reality, you can show creativity with uniforms. You have your locker, backpack, and usually hair to be creative!
So all in all, uniforms aren't a bad idea. Many people forget that you don't wear them out of school really, and most are unaware of dress down days.
As you can see, I really haven't formed your opinion, but given some info I think you might be unaware of. GOOD LUCK!!!!

i've had a son in both schools. reasons for: Helps kids focus on class because they are not distracted as much by looking at other students. Puts everyone on the same level. Easier because you don't have questions on what is allowed and what is not. Modesty. Cost less because you aren't having to keep the latest fashions to fit in. Looks nice. Teaches disipline in the way that you have to follow certain guidelines in any future job. Reasons against: Kids can not show individuality - Stiffles creativety. I found it costs me MORE $ having to buy two seperate wardrobes. Causes resentfulness and rebellion when it is a forced issue. At our school, some companies offered "kick backs" to the school for using their clothes. This caused the school to force us to purchase for their benefit and the quality and price were not in the best interest of the families. Takes away individual freedom of choice.
Hope this makes sense and some help!

Pro's-everyone is wearing the same thing...so you don't have people insulting your clothing.
No one is wearing inappropriate clothing...swearing, too little..etc.
Cons-not everyone looks good in a uniform...different body types and such...so there you get people making fun of others.
Kids can't express themselves in their own unique way.
Can be expensive for the parents of lower incomes.
Hope this helps...I hate uniforms.
if they ask you for an alternative to a uniform its as simple as having a dress code like you would for work when you go out into the real world.

pro- equality for students, no distractions in class, looks professional, idk cause i dont like uniforms
con- costly (sometimes)(especcially since kids would have to have school clothes and home clothes), many kids wouldnt want to and then they wouldnt so they couldnt go to school there, inhibits personal style, doesnt teach how to live in real world (need to be able to pick out clothes on your own), and theres soooooo much more for here
email me if you need more
