It depends.
A hand pump might run $30-40.
But a double electric pump, of the type you'd need if you were going to nurse long-term but also return to work full time, will run about $300.
You might be able to rent one. And if your doctor writes you a "prescription," insurance might pick up part of the tab.

I spent $45.00 on an Avent Isis Kit. It worked so much better for me than the $250.00 Medela Pump In Style that i also tried.
If you need to pump because you HAVE to be away from your baby a lot, I would rent a hospital grade pump or pay out for a really good double electric.
If you only need the occasional bottle, I'd get a hand pump off of Craiglist.

I had a medela pump in style that was a $300. this is an awesome pump! I have seen them being sold used for about $100 and you could always buy new attachments. You can buy a used one or even rent them. I know you can sterilize the attachments but I wouldnt want to use them after someone else, especially a stranger.

the only one you should even consider buying is a Medella electric double pump (esp. if your a working mom). Its about $250.00 BUT TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!
DON'T GET A USED PUMP OR A HAND PUMP BECAUSE THEY CAN PINCH AND DON'T WORK THAT GREAT!!! THE MEDELLA DPESN'T HURT AT ALL AND I HAVE VERY SENSITIVE SHORT NIPPLES AND I THOUGHT IT WAS A GIFT FROM GOD! I ALSO TOOK A BREASTFEEDING CLASS AND THAT WAS THE NUMBER ONE RECOMMENDED PUMP BY ALL WOMEN THERE!!

Between $25 and $300+ depending on the brand and whether you want a manual or electric. Mine was $100 but I only used it once or twice. :/
