i have a rather bitchy building management company; they're also brokerage company.

my question is how likely it is that they would be cool with me subletting the place for the last months i was originally supposed to stay here? i hear sometimes the management companies will let you so long as they provide the subleasing agreement..

they aren't too nice to us in general because we're the youngest tenants in the building (college students) but they let us move in anyway, basically threatening us to not miss a single payment.

They might let you do this. On the other hand, if you're planning to leave at the end of the lease term rather than move back in, this is really just a matter of you "breaking the lease," and the mgmt. co. may prefer to find a new long-term tenant (which is pretty reasonably actually).

If your apartment is rent stabilized, some special rules apply... see the Rent Guidelines Board at http://www.housingnyc.com/html/resources/faq/subletting.html ... it's actually *easier* to get permission to sublet a rent-stabilized place.

BTW, I was older than you when I first moved to New York but I also had serious problems with a bitchy management/realty company in those first months...hope you find a better arrangement soon.

Read your lease. Any policy about subleasing will be in the contract.

Oh, and wah-wah they aren't "nice" to you. Grow up and welcome to the land of adulthood where we aren't all eager to tell you just how wonderful you are every day in every way.

first you will desire to examine your hire, it would desire to not be plausible to subleases next in case you come across some one to sublease your area, the owner likely won't launch you legally from the hire regardless of in case you have a sublease, so if something could ensue the owner nevertheless would desire to come when you regardless of in case you the place not residing in the region
