Easily Karl Malone as you take individual player talent as the only critetia for a comparison
Malone had a much longer prime and has a career average of 25 points and 10 rebounds in a 19 year career. Duncan has only topped 25 points once.
Malone was way more consistent (also less injuries), was a true POWER forward, and didn't start declining after his 5th season like Duncan

I think that Duncan has been blessed with better team support than Malone. The Jazz were virtually nothing but Stockton to Malone off the pick and roll. That's what Team had to defend to beat them, and the Jazz won alot of games! Duncan has had players that were and are far and away better than the squad the Jazz had, I think the only decent player the Jazz had during their run besides those two was Hornacek. Come on... Eaton versus Robinson at center? Elliott versus who the hell knows his name? Right now Duncan has Parker and Ginobli to help take heat off him. Not doubt they were and are superior players though, I think I'd have to call it a draw. Two players who when they walked onto the court were gonna get their points and were gonna get their boards.

I would go with Karl Malone. He was the prototypical power forward. A fierce rebounder and staunch defender, Karl was rarely injured and played hard all the time. Duncan has done a lot to redefine the role of a power forward. His fundamentals are sound and his teams have won 3 championships, but the competition in the league is different these days than back in Karl's heyday. The East and the West were equally competitive, but nowadays the West is heads and shoulders above the East.

please.... karl malone most definitly.
Karl Malone is leads the league in most career points. Tim Duncan is no where near that field. Duncan has/had a good team with him to take the championship. Both had great teammates, but Karl was the leader of his team, Duncan had his guards lead the team. I take Karl any day.

Duncan. Malone is pretty much just a scorer and that's it. He isn't a walking double-double like Duncan. It's easy to understand why most analysts say Duncan's the best power-forward to ever play the game.

I actually admire Tim Duncan. He was physical on defense but didn't have Malone's brute force. He was great on offense too, and he had class. I kind of go for players these days that have class, because I haven't seen too many lately.
Oh, yeah, and his three rings and MVP's testify to his greatness too. Plus, the Spurs will definitely make it back into the playoffs for the millionth time. And did you notice that the Jazz have done just fine without the Mailman there to deliver?

Have you watched Tim Duncan the last couple of years ?
Malone was only as good as Stockton was healthy , Duncan is a rebound monster and plays WAYYYyyyy better "D" than Malone , although Malone ran the floor with the best of them , i believe "D" and "Reb" are better then running the floor , thats what guards are for.
just my 2cents worth

Tim Duncan. Very poised, very polished. Better shot blocker, better defender. Also better lowpost game. Malone was too one dimensional. He had a really good midrange jumpshot. That was all he had, though. Plus I don't know if would have been that great if he didn't have a very unselfish John Stockton passing to him all the time.

Karl Malone easily.... and for any of you idiots that say Duncan because of his championships then your stupid, because in Karl Malone's era he had dominant players like Jordan, Olajuwan, Isiah Thomas and Magic Johnson. Karl Malone would have won 8 titles if he had the type of forwards and guards in the NBA right now please. Maloine has better stats and played legendary. Duncan did too, but against weak teams.
