ANY position of power can lead to corruption. Cops. Teachers. Clergymen (ask an alter boy). Military. Even the management of the local pet shop. The thing is that some people realize that their position of power can lead to good things for the people they represent. Your parents, for example, have power over you before you turn 18. While there are many examples of parents who have abused this power, there are many more examples of parents who instead used their power to influence a good and positive outcome over their subjects (their children).
Politicians are human beings. Which means that many will use their influence to fatten their own interests. Others will fatten their own interests while also occassionally benifiting the people who put them there (especially during the voting season--which, of course, is STILL serving themselves). And a few (saddly, TOO few) will actually do the things they promised that they'd do, the things that won them public support. They are like any other group of people.

San Diego has been called Enron by the Sea. The government of the City of San Diego is either terribly incompetent or horribly corrupt. Add Randall "Duke" Cunningham to the mix and you've got plenty of issues on the federal and local level.

Absolutely. If you read your local paper you hear about it all the time where politicians are misusing tax dollars or doing something that isn't community friendly. The only difference is that on the federal level everyone hears about it on the local news and on cable...

There will always be corrupt politicians but it doesn't take a corrupt politician to make bad policy. It takes foolishness.

Hahahahahahahahahaha...thanks for the hearty laugh. You got to be kidding me to ask that question.
They have all sold their souls and are corrupt to their bones and would do anything, literally anything to achieve their ends.
