Instead of using its enormous wealth to build hospitals, and develop infrastructure in the 3rd and 2nd world, it has built more military bases, and created catastrophic conflicts to enslave the world to the American corporate machine.
Terrorism can be eliminated through the elimination of poverty, apparently some people don't get this.
USA, you reep what you sow.
Agree?

YOU HAVE NEVER TRIED TO HELP OTHER COUNTRIES. HOW DID YOU HELP VIETNAM, SOUTH/LATIN AMERICA, BOSNIA, THE MID-EAST?
YOU ARE A SLAVE TO THE MACHINE. YOUR GOVERNMENT AND THE CIA WOULD BE PROUD OF YOU. YOU ARE LIVING PROOF THAT THEY'VE DONE THEIR JOB.

Captain,
apparently you don't get puns.
The USA already has, and will continue to 'reep what it has sown'.

Susi,
I don't know...but it's truly sad when Oprah Winfrey plays more of a role in helping Africa than your entire government.

Terrorism can not be eliminated through the elimination of poverty. As long as people can compel others into hanous acts, terrorism will not just disappear. Osama bin Laden does not perpetrate terrorism because he is in poverty. You may say that his subordinates that engage in suicide attacks are manipulated by him because they live in poverty. First, they all don't live in poverty. Many of the 9/11 attackers did not come from poverty. Second, it has been shown through psychological experiments, that there is a natural tendency for people to follow leaders even when they are ordered to cause harm to others. This clearly has nothing to do with poverty. Quite frankly, I have seen real poverty in Mexico, and yet there is no terrorism brewing done their either.

Second, you say our sole repsonsibility to to build hospitals and develop infrastructure in the 3rd and 2nd world. I count two responsibilities that you listed, and since when did that become our responsbility and why is a so called free society (America) supposed to be imposing this responsbility on its citizens. As a citizen, I have a right to decide whether I want to support some nation through charitable contributions and the like. Who gave your *** the authority to tell me that not only must I contribute, I have to contribute in the exact manner that some corrupt politician has ordered me to. My feeling is that if some corrupt politician tells me to contribute to something, odds are I am contributing to a friend of that politician who doesn't need my contributions. It is your big government mentatlity that has led to a misappropriation of our resources. Without a big government we couldn't build bases enslaving the world and our politicians couldn't be bribed into supporting the 'infrastructure' of some tin-pot dictator's palace.

But then again, it is just like a liberal to be generous with other people's money.

Quite frankly I would be more proud if more citizens contributed more to helping the 3rd world then our government. Our government should NOT be making ANY contributions to the 3rd world!

Why is it that you are not asking what the world can do to build hospitals and develop infrastructure. It is only the United States that gets blamed for all the inadequacies on this planet.

I am somewhat of an isolationist. The U.S. should not have military bases all over the world, we should mind our own business. Live and let live, not live and the U.S. taxpayer foots the bill.

If a capitalistic society is so wrong, why do want us to help?

Money is not the answer to evereything. Terrorism can be eliminated by stopping the terrorists. If someone hates you and will only be happy when you are dead, he doesn't want your money,, he wants you dead. You better thank God for the American corporate machine unless you like life in a third world country. Talk about poverty! When you and your generation wake up to the propagnda you have been fed, it will all be over but the burying of the dead.

The US is definitely largely under the control of the corporations since Bush was elected but no country in the history of the world has given away more treasure than the United States of America.

To paraphrase a phrase in a movie:

"Who the Hell are we to determine the next course of evolution for this people?!"

Who the hell are we to babysit the rest of the world? We'd sure be a lot better off if we didn't send out millions, if not billions of dollars in foreign aid.

World: You reap what you sow.

EDIT: I do understand the pun, and you're right, we are pulling in the benefits of our foreign policy goals. We suck up to the people that we want stuff from. What did you expect?

I just think that its about time the rest of the world realized all the good things that we accomplish globally. If we truly "got out of everyones countries" You'd have many of them screaming to get us back.

How unintelligent must a person be to not realize that Muslims are out to kill Americans. Even Clinton warned us of that. Does sitting back and letting 3,000 American kids, moms, and dads get murdered give cause to have a military?

Terrorism can ONLY be eliminated by changing a certain religion. How uneducated do you have to be to not realize that if you're not a Musilm, you are marked to be killed?

By the way, is that why Chinese are coming to America in droves? Because China is a piece of ____?

And why do we have to pay for the worlds free ride. I did not see that in the paper were we are the world care takers.
Let each country take care of their own people, stop giving our money away, and let them fight their own fights.
Like many people say on here all of the other countries think we are a joke so lets see who is laughing when the money stops.

In 3rd and 2nd world countries, poor people are w/o lack of education. Therefore by your suggestion of eliminating poverty, what do we do about their lack of education and how in hell will these uneducated people stop their terrorizing? Terror is born of hate and there is no reasoning with that!

Go educate yourself. We have poured more money in foreign aid into nations in the last 15 years than any war has ever cost us, and foolishly so.
We have one obligation in this world and that is to protect the American way of life. You are ignorant to not realize that no matter how much money we throw at people, there are still those who what us dead because we are infidels.
No one in this world will take care of us, we need to take care of ourselves and if you like being able to watch MTV and be employed where you wish and read what you choose to read, I suggest you keep your mouth shut.

uh no. We tried helping other countries, but when saddam uses the oil for food program for weapons instead of food, or the african warlords kill anyone who touches the food we drop in africa for the people, then you need the military. Would you people stop complaining all the time? agree?

EDIT: to the guy below me, go to africa, give them food, then watch the innocent being teared apart by Russian-made AK-47's

EDIT2: hey kid, we went into vietnam because of france, and look at it now. Its prospering. please pick up a book, and read
