First, check the weather stripping of your doors and windows. Older houses on piers may not have subflooring. The floors may stop at the walls, and the base trim covers over the edge, but there may be small gaps big enough to let bugs in. Second, spiders are more active at certain times of the year. It's no coincidence that spiderwebs are associated with Halloween. Spiders seem to get really busy then.
However, the two poisonous spiders you mention are most often found in out of the way places, wood piles, storage buildings, etc. that don't get much use. Keeping your home weather tight, clean, and uncluttered will keep most bugs outside.
