its a sensor that goes next to the fuel filter im not sure what it is though and im not sure what to tell the auto part store what im looking for its not in the haynes manual is there a webste that might have a picture you could look at to try to find it? thanks for your help if you can

That would be the EBP sensor, if the one you are referring to, looks like the sensor illustrated in this link when you scroll to the bottom:

I believe the part number and price, for your particular application is 4C3Z-9J460-A for $75.67US.

You didn't specify which engine, so I'm assuming you are referring to either a 1996 E-series (van), or F-series (pickup) with a 7.3L DIT engine.
