I usually save files if they are useful and may be needed later in case of a crash! Files like IE6setup, etc. It also comes in handy if I need to use them on another PC.
Some people also save them to scan them with virus protection software. If you open a file and find out its a virus, you done infected yourself already! I also have lots of free utilites I use and have found them hard to find a couple years down the road.

Hi there.
Good questions. Let's answer them one by one.
1) Since you're only accessing it once and that's it, opening it instead of saving it first then opening is fine. There's nothing wrong with going that route.
2) Whether you open or save files from the internet, they're for the most part (with some special exceptions) saved into your Temporary Internet Files folder under either Windows folder, or under your current user's profile account folder.
Hope this helps

Hi. Open runs the source from the site while Save puts a copy on your machine. 'Save' is useful if you have a large download and may use it again. You can always delete it later. Hint: Make a 'Downloads' folder on your desktop and always Save to this. Makes it easy to find and delete if you want.

Acctually both works, but i suggest you use save option then after downloading finished you can open it.
If you choose to just open it, you can save it with program you use to open.
'open' and 'download' option has same time to download....

Yes just choose opening if you donot want to keep files on your computer. No.. files are only stored temporarily on your computer while you are viewing them.
