Father, because they have the x and y chromosomes. If the x chromosome meets with the womens x it'll be a girl, if the y chrom. meets w/ the womens x chromosome it'll be a boy. The women only has x chromosomes, the man has x and y chromosomes, so the man determines it

The gender is decided by the sperm. The egg starts of as an x chromosome. The sperm can either carry an x chromosome or a y chromosome. When an x is introduced to the egg you get an xx resulting in a female offspring, and when a y is introduced to the egg you get an xy resulting in a male offspring.

Mom contributes an X chromosone.
Dad can contribute an X chromosone OR a Y chromosome.
XX is a female and XY is a male.
So, it's the father that determines gender.

Naturally the father.
King Louis the 16th thought that it was the mother and killed off a bunch of his wives so that he could have a son.
You can hire doctor to analize and sepparate sperms containing the x and y cromozones. You can then choose which pool of sperm you want to use and create a boy or a girl to your liking.
Some people find that unethical, however it can be helpful when there is a disease runing in the family that affects a specific gender.
I hope you like my fun facts!
