I just recently moved into my boyfriends. My son and I have been looking for approximately 11/2 years for a chihuahua to adopt and finally found one. My boyfriend and his 3 kids each have there animals (about 20 in the whole household). I do not feel that I am being treated fairly by having one. He is taken care of completely. The problem is, is that he wouldn't let his ex-wife have one and it was the last straw. I know I need to move out but unfortunatly do to a work injury I am on hold right now. I don't know what to do. Can you help?

Put the dog on hold until you get yourself together enough to be able to move out and get your own place. If you get your dog now it is going to cause you and probably the dog more trouble than you will be able to cope with.

I don't see the problem in you having an animal-that's not fair at all. Maybe he's the one stuck taking care of them all and dosent want to care for another one? Taking care of an animal is a big round the clock effort-especially with 20 or so pets. If that's the case everyone in the home should help around with pet chores.

That isn't fair at all. Who does he think he is to tell you you're not "allowed" to have a pet? It's like he's treating you more like one of his children than his girlfriend. You're an adult and can care for your own pets, it shouldn't be a problem for him if you get one or not. I could understand it if he were allergic to animals or something, but he has 20 other animals, and you cant get one?
I would tell him if I were you, that you dont appreciate him telling you you're not "allowed" to have one, and that him saying that makes you feel like a kid instead of his girlfriend. Frankly, I'd just get one. in a house with 20 animals, one more isn't going to hurt.

i agree with fist lady? it's your life do what you will with it. if you back down to him now he will asume that he can bose you around all the time. girl get out go to a motel or something. or go to a friends house and then get a dog and rub it in his face.

Why is he telling you you can't have a pet? You are not owned by him. If you want a pet, get one. Is there no where else you can go...friends, parents?
