They are among the top 3 vacuums you can buy. They are probably the best upright you can get. A Kirby will last you for decades if you get it serviced every 3 - 4 years (they take it apart, clean the motor, and replace worn out parts.)

I used to sell Aerus (Electrulux) and Kirby is one of the best. Other good vacs are Meille (built in Germany), Filter Queen, or ProLux.

As for supplies any vac shop can get genuine bags for you. But get it serviced by hte Kirby dealer whenever the brush gets worn out.

You will get sick of the weight of that monster unless you like a good work out as you clean house.

Kirby is the top of the line......... Electrolux comes in a close second. There are Kirbys out there that were manufactured in the 1950's and still run great! Kirby is the Cadillac of vacuums. You made an excellent choice, and will have the best vacuum cleaner for many years to come.

some years in the past the Kirby's had steel factors (heavy gadget) and that that they had high quality. for the reason that then, Kirby tried to make the gadget 'much less annoying to attend to' and build them extra low-priced. I by no skill liked them. Rainbow is a robust high quality gadget. I even have an Electrolux that's now approximately 30 years old and continuously had stable success with it. Now that i'm older & wiser; put in 'timber' laminate flooring and ceramic tiles with throw rugs. lots much less annoying to scrub and little or no hypersensitivity issues.

I've owned one that I bought at a garage sale and it worked really well. However it was very heavy and I don't think I would pay the price for a new one. Not because I don't like them but because for me the cost is too much. As far as I've ever heard they are easy to get serviced, etc.

Kirby's have been around for years so they must have a pretty decent product, and if you are happy with it that's really all that matters.

They are a reputable company, my grandmother has always used their machines, in fact the one she has now was bought back in the 70's, built like a mack track with a big chrome bumper & blinding headlight & it still does a great job.

Expensive but quality.
