I think your best bet is to ask someone who sews to show you, maybe take it to the local fabric store. They all thread slightly different so there is no way for me to tell you, without looking at it.

I'm not sure just what your problem is. If it's a matter of running the thread through it's path correctly, there is often a threading diagram of the machine itself. Sometimes it's on an inside cover that has to be swung out. Generally the thread will go from the top spool through a hole in a piece of metal at the top left of the machine head, then drop down through and around a small round tension mechanism then down and around another, larger tension mechanism (generally this one has numbers on it and when you turn it, the tension is adjusted here). There's probably a small wire loop on it that the thread will need to pass through before going through a hole in the main bar that travels up and down when the machine is running. From here it should drop through another hole or hook of some sort to keep it from flopping around while you're sewing. After that you should be able to thread your needle. It will thread from front to back or from left to right depending on the machine.

That should be the basics. (there may be some variation, but that's pretty much the general route.) If you still have trouble, it may be that your tension needs reset. This can be done for the top thread by adjusting that tension wheel discusseed earlier. It may need done for the bobbin also. Generally there's a screw somewhere on the bobbin holder that will do this. If it's really out of whack, you may need to take it in to a Singer repair shop and have someone adjust it while explaining to you how to do it yourself. That's something that ANY good repairman should be willing to show you.
