In Virtual Villagers 2, do you get more harvest if you make more people plant crops, or do you get the same amout of harvest no matter how many people plant crops?

You get the same amount of crops at each harvest, regardless of how many villagers plant or water crops. The only real purpose it seems to serve is increasing the farmer's skill level.
