I had to change the battery in my 1994 Volvo 850, and now the radio won't play because it needs the "code" to reset it. However, the owner's manuals are long-gne, and I don't know what the code is. I'm afraid that if I go to the dealer, they will charge me an arm and a leg. Can anyone tell me how to re-set the radio without the code?

Sorry you are screwed. I doubt the dealer has a code that old either....you could ask, but I doubt it. Ask the parts department guy if he keeps codes that old.

If not, it's stereo shop time for a new unit or find a used one WITH a code on eBay. They would be very cheap used.
