Can faxes be hacked or intercepted?

I know all about how computers can be hacked but can faxes being sent be intercepted. Sometimes people are faxing very confidential info.

Yes they can. A simple fax/data modem connected to the tap output to a laptop running the right software and it's game on.

Yes. Wiretaps not only capture voice data but may also be used to extract fax/modem data, wiith the help of specialised software.
