I believe it depends on how responsible you are.
You say you already have a dog and a cat...so....my question is WHO takes care of them? You, your parents, or siblings? Do you make sure they have food and water? Do you clean the kitty litter box if you have one for your cat? Do you exercise the dog? Do you clean up any messes they make?
If NO then you do not need another pet. If YES then another pet could be a consideration.
Hand raised birds make great pets. They are a bit messy but still great pets. It is fun to have a hamster, but they can stink if you do not change their litter often enough. A little mini rabbit makes a funny pet also...but again they have to be cleaned up after because they also can stink if not properly cared for.
I love horses and they do take a lot of care but to me they are worth the effort.
An ant farm is fun and it doesn't take much effort.
I hope these help a little bit.

Get a stuffed animal until you're ready to care for a pet the proper way and not keep it in a dark garage all day. And pay more attention to your cat and dog.

A chinchilla...they are a type of rodent, but I have a feeling that your parents will think that it's much cuter than a rat, ferrett, etc. They're REALLY soft, and nocturnal; the garage would be a good place to keep it when you're not playing. You could probably find some pictures of them online, if you want to see what they look like. Good luck with convincing your parents!

I think you should be happy with the pets you already have. Most parents don’t even allow their kids to have a dog! Just appreciate what you have got.
