When using a systemic fertilizer, is it harmful to butterflies,bees, and hummingbirds?

Believe it or not, I called around to a few plant nurseries in my area and they didnt know !?
So, I thought Id ask if anyone here knows or not...

Some commercial made fertilizers can do harm to butterflies, bees and hummingbirds because of the minute particles that my be in the air from appying in a form of spraying. the residues from the fertilizers that may do the harm. The fertilizers in the ground probably won't get into to the insects and birds but through plants and air born.
