It's bad enough that spanish TV steals most of our tv show ideas, and the rest of the world does too. Then you have fox, cbs, nbc duplicating each others shows...How is this allowed without compensation?

generally copyrights do apply but generally shows by the rights from one country to the next.

Because you cannot copyright an idea or a concept.

Unless a copycat show has the exact same name, script or theme song, they are pretty much free to use your general idea or show concept. Doesn't mean they couldn't get sued for copying an idea, but they probably wouldn't be found guilty.

They are compensated, and copyright DOES apply. You've asked a very ignorant question. Just thought you should know that.
