Major problem--

My the space on my disk (harddrive) is critically low (about 65MB)-- the memory is terrible as well. I would like to remedy this problem by formatting my disk and wipping off all traces of my old files and reloading the operating system...

One problem: I don't know how to format my disk. So, I am depending on all of those computer geeks out there who have the know-how to give me some instructions!!

First select the drives which OS will not be installed. Right click there will be a option 'Format'. Select that and click Start.

Then u reboot your system using the Windows CD, before installing the OS it will definitely format the drive where the OS will be installed.

Cirric is half-right. Nothing is irrevocable, but, yes, it helps to back up stuff. Some PC's are mean and nasty and they take you literally when you say to delete stuff. Others will let you let you write new stuff over the old stuff without really deleting the old stuff. That is how a lot of illegal stuff gets caught, even after the person has re-formatted the hard drive. Unless your hard-drive is brand new and loaded up with useless junk, I suggest you get a new hard drive and start from scratch, if you want a truly clean drive. Otherwise, you can bet that TRACES of your old files will remain.

If you're talking Win2k or later, reinstallation will do this. Boot to the install disk. Delete existing partitions to totally clear and start over. After partitions are deleted, create partition and install.
