Basically, I have to get to the SF Building Division tomorrow, during the day, and I want to take BART to the nearest station. I hate walking in the seedier parts of town, and now I'm pregnant and extra paranoid. Do you think I should walk from the 16th St. Mission station, or the Civic Center station?

Take BART to Civic Center then the MUNI down to Mission and Van Ness... it's not far and not a bad walk during the day so check it out and play it by ear. Plus, we are going to have a great day tomorrow so enjoy the Sun!

The number 14 bus (14 Richland) runs on Mission St. and has a bad reputation for crime. Supposedly, even the bus drivers are afraid of getting that assignment (this was reported in a SF newspaper website so I'm not really spilling the beans). Muggers grabbing ipods and laptops are a growing problem (not just in SF), so be discreet. Walking from Civic Center to Mission and VanNess is somewhat safer. Both locations can be scary at night.

Go from Civic Center, the Van Ness end of Mission isn't nice, but during the working day you should be OK.
