I had always been a non-conformist.
It has not served me well.
Now I'm conforming, I hate it, but I have a child to take care of and I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb.

I've never noticed any good things to conforming, besides the fact that you have an easier chance at first to be excepted by others who have also conformed. I think conforming ruins who you are and takes away personal identity, but that's just me.

conforming: social success, jobs, money, parents' approval, status, confort, possible loss of autonomy or freedom. possible sacrifice of one's true self/values, possible "living a lie" possible inner stress
not conforming: harder to make a living. face potential disapproval and rejection, independence, autonomy freedom,
authenticity

the advantage is you feel included and accepted disadvantage is that you can lose sight of who you are and what you want
