Been doing this a long time and to my knowledge, there's no adapter available to do what you want. The most effective way is to draw a picture of the recepticle that you have and take it to a hardware store. Buy a new cord that matches that recept. It's much easier to change a cord than to replace one of those 240 Volt recept's.

Usually plugs are designed on cords for a reason, if it doesn't fit the outlet it could be dangerous to try and connect it by adapting it. There's a good chance that the outlet is 220 and the dryer is 110 or the other way around. There are also appliances that require 20 amps and have a different plug that won't fit into a 15 amp outlet. Your better off either consulting with an electrician or having the landlord look into changing the outlet. Be careful, electricity shouldn't me messed with if you don't know what you are doing. Also be careful of the answers you get on this site, I've seen a number of electrical questions that had people giving answers that could get someone seriously hurt.

What does the plug on the dryer look like? And what does the outlet in the wall look like? Due to the high amount of power used by a dryer, I wouldn't recommend an adapter. It's probably a good idea to install a new outlet, plus a new breaker (maybe 240 volt?)

There should be. Go to Lowe's or Home Depot. We had the same problem when we moved, but ours was an older dryer in a newer apt. We went to Home Depot and bought the right connector for it. It was actually pretty easy to set up too, as long as you have your dryer owners manual. Just remember to unplug it before connecting the wires (blew the circuit that way! lol).

you'll have to get a new cord at the hardware store. they're pretty easy to replace. if you cant find the correct configuration, you may have to replace the outlet.

i have never seen one in my 40 years working on appliances...the best things to do is either get a new cord to match the receptacle or get a receptacle to match your cord....both are fairly easy to do..just be sure to turn power off if you replace receptacle...
