You can either connect the PC directly to the Xbox via a crossover ethernet cable. Connect the Xbox RJ45 port to computer RJ45 port.

OR

If you have a router, you can connect the Xbox and PC separately to the same router via straight-through ethernet cable.

Note: the two types of ethernet cable: straight-through and crossover.

Ethernet cord. it should look like an oversized phone jack.
