The High School I graduated from required us to pass a CPR class, before we could graduate. To me that makes more sense than a swimming test.

i don't think a student should be required to swim to pass high school b/c it is forcing them to do something they might not be able to. I think the lesson should be a required class for graduation but not a concern if the student is able to swim or not.
overall it is unfair for the student just because he or she is unable to swim

I believe that each person should learn how to swim for safety's sake, but not to graduate.
Self-defense is also a lifesaving skill, but I would never expect that to be a graduation requirement.

High school? They should learn to swim before they're out of grade school. Wouldn't it look stupid if some brilliant researcher were lost to humanity because he couldn't even swim?

not only is it not fair but when it's cold out and that is your last class of the day that is not fair, and giving girls 15 minutes to get dressed after being in a pool is ridiculous as well.

I can only imagine the logic behind this requirement... people who can't swim are unfit to function in society.

It's not fair.
