Discussing it openly with your partner is very healthy. Otherwise, it's something to be shared between 2 people. Sounds old-fashioned, but it works:)
I think that making sex seem bad or wrong isn't the answer either - it's like anything else - keep it in perspective and don't over-react.

Society is obsessed with sex, because humans are obsessed with sex. Sex is one of our basic needs. (the need to mate) It is on most people minds and now, it has come out into the open. I mean, makes the world go round. A person goes to school to get a good job, to buy a good home, so they can get a good mate to have sex with in their good home that they bought with a good job, after graduating from school. We fuss over weight and clothes and hair. Why? To be attractive. Attractive for what? Sex. Yes, we are obsessed, and it is healthy to talk about it.

Yes, society is obsessed with it, but it sure sells things, but having it out in the open is also good, before you could never even discuss it in the open, or you were thought of poorly.

Society has always and will always be obsessed with sex.
Its human nature. The sooner people start discussing it out in the open the sooner we are less likely to see teen pregnancies, sexually transmitted disease and maybe even less sexual predators.
If people are less afraid to say how they feel maybe they can get help with protection, knowledge or even professional help if needed.
Sex is out there. People are going to satisfy their wants and needs. Better to talk before acting,

i don't mind the discussion since that is fine...but the over saturation of everything in the media about sex is WAY too much and borders on an unhealthy obsession

I think its healthy because more people are aware of the risks, but I wish there was a better way to keep kids from learning about it til they are a little older. I think my son was 8 when he started asking, and my daughter was 11 when she had to do a report on the pros and cons of abortion. I was shocked!

It's very healthy but I think society and media have a way of turning everything into something it isn't. Sex is human nature and it is portrayed as either something to be ashamed of or something to flaunt and give away to anyone - no happy medium anymore.
