Hi. Something is wrong. You should be able to come back from standby with a keyboard or mouse action. If you find the time is too short then it can be modified under "Settings> Power Management options>" I think in ME. Set it for 'never' and the problem goes away.

With some older computers the Standby circuits begin to FAIL. You have to go into BIOS mode to Disable this feature. When you start the computer, you have to hit a specific key to get into the BIOS settings. Do this as soon as the computer starts to turn on. With some, it;s the DELETE key, with others, it's F1 or other key.

Also, RIGHT CLICK on the desktop and pick PROPERTIES when it has fully started. This shows you the Desktop Properties. Pick the Screensaver section, then click on the POWER button. From there, select ALWAYS ON, so it does not go into Hibernation or Standby.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

Go to start, select control panel, and then once that window opens, power options. Under the power themes tab you will look down and see system standby with a drop down menu, select never...hope this helps. if you dont have a screensaver you should put one on, for more info of how to do that you can email me...if you want

Right click on Monitor Screen --->Properties ----> ScreenSaver ---> Power ---> Power Scheme --->System Standby: Never.

Other way:

Control Panel ---> Display: then continue as above.

Go to your Power Options, and set it to not do that. By the way, you need Windows 2000/XP because ME is not a good operating system.
