When you look through the glass on the top of the fuse you will see a metal strip going across with a part of it that is more narrow than the rest. If the narrow part does not connect strait across, the fuse is blown. The current has to go through that piece of metal.

You should be able to look in thru the glass window on the top of the fuse and see a solid wire from one side to the other. If the wire is broken, then the fuse is blown. If there's any doubt in your mind as to whether it's intact, simply install a new fuse in it's place. If things come back on, then it was bad

If you look inside the glass front, you should be able to see the filament running in an "s" shape, if it is blown it will be discolored or you will simply see a break in it, if you have a type that doesnt have a glass window on the front you may as well assume it is blown and replace it ey?

they will have a black or brown discloration to the glass front of fuse...or you get a fuse of same amperage and try them one at a time till you find the blown one or if you have a multimeter you can test for voltage at each fuse

The element inside the fuse should be burned out. Would be easy to see if you screw it out and look at it in the light.

Screw in a new one is the easiest way, if you have a multi tester you can do a continuity test. They sometimes turn black or brown when they blow out.
